1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small text files a site can store on your device. Similar tools include localStorage and sessionStorage in your browser. They can keep preferences, support security, or remember a language choice.

2. What we actually use today

We aim to describe real behaviour — not a generic template. On this public website we currently use:

• Cookie preference storage — your choice from the consent banner is saved in browser localStorage under the key rlc-cookie-consent so we can hide the banner on return visits.
• Preloader state — sessionStorage key rlc-preloader-done so the loading screen does not repeat every navigation in the same tab session.
• Language / Google Translate (optional) — if you choose another language, Google's translate tool may set a googtrans cookie and load Google scripts. That only happens when you use the translator.
• Hosting / security logs — our hosting providers may process standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) to operate and protect the service. These are not cookies we set in the page, but they are related to visiting the site.

3. Analytics — honest position

The consent banner records whether you would accept optional analytics. We do not currently load a third-party analytics product (such as Google Analytics) when you choose "Accept all". Your preference is stored so we can respect it if we introduce analytics later. If we add analytics, we will update this policy and only enable optional tools in line with your stored choice where required.

4. Essential operation

Some storage is needed for the site to work as designed (preference memory, session preloader, and authenticated areas if you log in). Portal and staff dashboards may use additional local storage for tokens and offline fallbacks — those apply to authorised users of those systems, not to casual public browsing.

5. Your choices

• Use the banner to choose Accept all or Essential only (preference is stored locally).
• Clear site data / cookies in your browser to reset the banner and translator cookies.
• Do not use the language switcher if you do not want Google Translate cookies.

6. Third parties

Google (translation) and Meta / WhatsApp (if you open a WhatsApp link) have their own privacy and cookie practices. Opening those services is your choice.

7. Changes

If our cookie or analytics setup changes, we will revise this page and the "Last updated" date.
